Shaping Opportunities for Skilled Job Seekers: Reflections from NAWB 2017

March 31st 2017 by WorkAmerica Team

The gathering this week in DC of the US workforce system’s key stakeholders, at the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) Forum, provided a venue for sharing best practices and stoking innovative thinking around how to strengthen businesses and communities through building a stronger more skilled workforce. Through more than 50 workshops and a variety of networking events workforce professionals came together to tackle today’s workforce challenges and opportunities.

The challenges are many, some related to workforce regulations others to workforce policy, but a pervasive challenge continues to be connecting skilled workers with meaningful work. Increasingly technology is playing a larger role in skills-based jobs, and also in hiring skilled workers.

A pervasive challenge continues to be connecting skilled workers with meaningful work. Increasingly technology is playing a larger role in skills-based jobs, and also in hiring skilled workers.

Industry recognized credentials in welding, building trades, allied health, IT, advanced manufacturing and other skilled occupations are often the minimum qualification for employment. Job boards are filled with job postings representing tens of thousands of open jobs across the country needing skilled and industry credentialed workers. Yet, jobs remain open because companies can’t find the qualified candidates they need. This not only compromises business success and delivery of the best customer experience, but also diminishes the vibrancy of the community these businesses operate in.

WorkAmerica recognizes the impact of open jobs and is helping businesses fill their openings within days rather than weeks or months. Putting workers to work is what we do. Leveraging WorkAmerica’s intuitive easy-to-use recruiting platform businesses are taking advantage of the opportunity to search our vast pool of industry credentialed candidates with their user-defined search criteria empowering them to identify candidates based on the qualifications they deem crucial. Whether it geographic location, specific credential(s), area of study, experience, all of them combined or other criteria WorkAmerica eliminates the days/weeks that go by as frustrated employers wait for applicants to respond to their job postings. Imagine being able to build a pipeline of candidates that allows you to fill vacancies immediately when a job becomes open and maintaining the high level of performance that only businesses with full employment can achieve. Guess what? You don’t have to imagine anymore.
